NCAC and Thailand Office of the Consumer Protection Board concluded the MOU on cooperation in consumer consultation for cross border consumer issues

The National Consumer Affairs Center of Japan (NCAC) and the Thailand Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB) concluded the MOU on cooperation in consumer consultation for cross border consumer issues.

The MOU signing ceremony was held at the Sagamihara Office of NCAC on May 27, 2016. Mr. Tsuneo Matsumoto, President of NCAC and Mr. Umpon Wongsiri, Secretary-General of OCPB signedthe MOU.

OCPB is a government agency established under the Consumer Protection Act of Thailand and is in charge of handling consumer complaints, redressing consumer damage, protecting consumer rights, etc.

The MOU states that NCAC and OCPB will make cooperative efforts to solve consumer problems between Japan and Thailand (i.e. problems encountered between Japanese consumers and Thailand businesses as well as between Thailand consumers and Japanese businesses), including those related to overseas travel and cross-border online shopping.

NCAC will keep working for resolution of cross border consumer issues in cooperation with consumer organizations in other countries.
