NCAC and Philippine Department of Trade and Industry concluded the MOU on cooperation in consumer consultation for cross border consumer issues

The National Consumer Affairs Center of Japan (NCAC) and the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) concluded the MOU on cooperation in consumer consultation for cross border consumer issues.

The MOU signing ceremony was held at the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on July 26, 2016. Mr. Tsuneo Matsumoto, President of NCAC and Mr. Atty. Victorio Mario A. Dimagiba, Undersecretary of DTI signed the MOU. Mr. Ramon M. Lopez, Secretary of DTI also attended the ceremony as a witness.

DTI established the Consumer Protection Group in the department, which is in charge of handling consumer complaints, redressing consumer damage, protecting consumer rights, etc. under the Consumer Act of the Philippines.

The MOU states that NCAC and DTI will make cooperative efforts to solve consumer problems between Japan and the Philippines (i.e. problems encountered between Japanese consumers and Philippine businesses as well as between Philippine consumers and Japanese businesses).

NCAC will keep working for resolution of cross border consumer issues in cooperation with consumer organizations in other countries.
